For film reactors

Movie reaction video editor

Edit first-time-watching movie reactions in your browser. Line your facecam up with the film, pick a layout, and let the editor cut between watching and talking automatically. The film is just the content track: the editor works the same with anything you play.

What people make with it

  • First-time watch of a classic
  • Director-cut comparisons
  • Trailer breakdowns and predictions
  • Group watch-alongs

Why it fits this kind of reaction

Long films stay fast

A two-hour film never gets uploaded anywhere. It is read straight from your disk, so length costs you nothing but the time your computer spends generating it.

Video-first layout suits films

Video-first mode keeps the video full-screen with your face in a corner shape while you watch, then swaps to a bigger you the moment you start talking.

While you watch: the video leads
While you talk: you lead
The layout step, inside the editor

And then you are on a timeline

A first watch runs long, and long videos live or die on how easy they are to follow. That is what the timeline is for.

  • Chapter titles at the moments that matter, so a two-hour reaction gets a spine a viewer can skim
  • A shape over one corner when something spoils the ending in the background
  • Colour per clip, so a dark cinema scene and your bright room stop fighting each other at every cut
  • Your own music under the intro, on its own lane, with its own fade
Everything the editor can doNone of it costs another credit.

The other setups you can use for film reactions

You-first above is just where we'd start, not a rule. Every mode and every control works on any project, and most creators mix them. Here is the main alternative, spelled out the same way, plus the levers you have, so you can pick what fits the video in front of you.

Video-first: the video leads, you in a corner
The other main setup

Video-first

Prefer it cinematic? Video-first keeps the film full-screen with your camera in a corner shape, then swaps to a bigger you the moment you talk. It shows more of the original, so if a video ever gets claimed, lean on more frequent cuts to your camera.

Try Video-first instead

…and three levers you can mix into either setup

One look, or two

Keep a single look the whole way, or switch to a second one the moment you talk. That highlight look is optional on every project.

Overlay only to the subtitle

Drop your own image over the video at about half opacity and stretch it down just to the subtitle line. Less original shows, and the dialogue stays readable.

Cut as much or as little

Two sliders set how eagerly it cuts to your camera, from heavy to none, and you can change or delete any single cut by hand.

  • Your own image, at about 50% opacity
  • Stretched down only to the subtitle band
  • Works in either mode: over the full frame or the small window
  • Less of the original on screen, dialogue still readable

The workflow

Identical for every kind of video: two recordings in, one finished reaction out.

  1. 1FilesYour camera and the video, each with its sound.
  2. 2SyncDrag until the two sounds line up.
  3. 3LookPick Video-first or You-first and place your camera.
  4. 4GenerateOne generation, one finished video, at your source resolution.
  5. 5Cuts & saveAutomatic talking cuts, joined without re-encoding.

Finish here, or take it into another editor

Generating gives you the finished final.mp4, and, if you want to keep going, the three full-length files it was built from (the whole film in each look) plus a timeline (EDL, FCPXML, OTIO or CSV) for DaVinci Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut. Cut it your own way, or import the timeline to rebuild this exact edit. Nothing to re-render.

1 credit = 1 finished video. You spend it by pressing Generate in the editor, and only if that generation actually finishes. A cancelled or failed one costs nothing, and re-cutting or saving that same video again is free. Everything else (editing, syncing, previewing, and exporting with a watermark) never costs a credit. No subscription.
