Questions people ask before their first video
I have never edited a reaction video. Can I use this?
Yes, that is who it is built for. Five steps, each asks one question, and a demo project lets you walk through all of them before you record anything.
Is this reaction video editor really free?
Every editing feature is free and unlimited, at full resolution, with no account. Free exports carry a moving watermark; removing it costs 1 credit for that video. No subscription, and a free account starts with 5 credits.
How does it know when to cut?
It listens to your microphone. While you are quiet the video leads, from the moment you speak you lead, and the first and last seconds get the intro look. Seven sliders tune it, and every cut stays editable.
What do I need to record before I start?
Your camera with your voice (OBS Studio is free) and the video you react to. Two files are enough. If you recorded your microphone as its own track, add it too: no echo, and sharper cutting.
Are my video files uploaded anywhere?
No. There is no processing server. Importing, syncing, generating and saving all happen in your browser, which is also why feature-length videos work.
Is it just an auto-cutter, or can I actually edit?
Both. The automatic cut is where the edit starts: then you have a timeline with titles, shapes, music, transitions, colour per clip and keyframes. Undo goes all the way back, and none of it costs another credit.
Do I have to build the layout again for every video?
No. Pick a template set, or build your own, then Save project: the next video opens with the same looks, text and sound mix.
Can I finish the edit in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut?
Yes. Every generation also gives you a full-length MP4 for each look and a timeline you can export as EDL, FCPXML, OTIO or CSV, at no extra cost.
What does my computer need?
Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop, a window of at least 1280 by 660, and free disk space for the working files (about 14 GB per hour of video at 1080p). The editor shows the exact numbers before it starts.
How long does it take to generate a video?
Your machine does the work, so it depends on length, resolution and your hardware. A ten to fifteen minute project at 1080p usually takes a few minutes.
Will my reaction video get a copyright claim?
That depends on the video and how much of it you show, not on the editor. You can cut to yourself more, shrink or dim the video, or cover it. None of it is a guarantee or legal advice; our copyright page explains the rest.
Do credits expire?
No. They stay on your account until you use them, and there is no recurring charge.
